
Making Your PET Heater Modules Actually Fit
Let’s be honest: there is nothing more frustrating than a blow molding line going down because a replacement heater doesn’t fit or the wattage is just slightly off. It’s a headache you don’t need. That’s why we build our infrared heater modules to be true drop-in replacements. We aren’t talking about some vague “universal” promise. We simply looked at the most common OEM specs used globally and matched the physical footprint and electrical load exactly. If you’re using one of the big global brands, these should slide right in.
Getting the heat right
We stick with short-wave infrared. By combining high-purity quartz glass with halogen gas, we can push the heat into a tight, concentrated beam. The goal here is speed. You want the heat to punch through the PET wall quickly without scorching the outside. Depending on your power grid, you can grab these in 220V or 380V. Now, if you go with a higher wattage tube, you’re getting a lot more heat density. That’s great for speeding up your cycle times, but just a heads-up: make sure your cooling fans can keep up. You don’t want your oven turning into a sauna.
The nuts and bolts
We use R7s and Sk15 connectors. They aren’t fancy, but they’re the industry workhorses for a reason. They create a tight connection that won’t arc or burn out when the current gets heavy. We also coat the quartz tubes to shift the emission spectrum. It sounds technical, but it basically just means the energy goes exactly where the preform needs it. Plus, we keep these in stock. You shouldn’t have to wait six weeks for an OEM part while your machine sits idle.
A few tips from the field
Swapping out a burnt-out lamp is pretty simple. Pull the old one, double-check your wattage, and wire up the new module. We keep our tolerances tight, so the lamps fit into your reflectors without any annoying rattling. But here is a pro tip: check your reflectors first. If they’re pitted or oxidized, you’re throwing away 10-15% of your heat, no matter how nice the new lamp is. Give them a good clean before you install the new modules. It makes a world of difference.
