
Keeping Locker Rooms and Showers Warm (Without the Headache)
Trying to heat a shower area or a locker room with a standard heater is a losing battle. They take forever to kick in, and the second a door opens or the humidity spikes, all that warmth just vanishes. That’s why we stick with IP65 shortwave infrared. Instead of trying to warm up all the air in the room—which is basically impossible in a wet zone—these units beam heat directly onto your skin and the surfaces around you. Why it actually works
Shortwave infrared is just faster. It hits harder and penetrates deeper than the longwave stuff. We build these with high wattage so they click on and start working the second you flip the switch. The best part? You aren’t fighting the ventilation system. In a changing room, you’ve usually got fans and open doors sucking the heat out. Since this is radiant heat, it doesn’t matter if there’s a draft. If you’re standing in the beam, you’re warm. Simple as that.
Dealing with the water (and the heat)
When you’re putting electronics in a shower, water is the enemy. The “IP65” part just means we’ve sealed the guts of the machine. Dust can’t get in, and water jets won’t cause a short circuit or fry the terminals. But here’s the tricky part: if you seal a heater too tightly, it can actually cook itself from the inside. It’s a balancing act. If you cram too much power into a tiny, airtight box, the wiring starts to degrade. To stop that from happening, we use high-temp silicone gaskets and alloys that can take the heat without breaking a sweat.
A few things to keep in mind
You’ll need a dedicated circuit for these. They pull a lot of current, so don’t try to plug them into some random outlet. Also, you have to be smart about where you put them. Because the heat is so direct, you can end up with “hot spots.” If you mount the lamp too low, the person standing right under it is going to feel like they’re being grilled. The trick is to get the mounting height and the angle just right. When you nail the positioning, the heat spreads out naturally across the whole zone, and everyone stays comfortable.
