
Making Bathroom Heaters That Don’t Blind You
When we design infrared lamps for the bathroom, we’re basically trying to solve a tricky puzzle: how do you get a room warm fast—especially when it’s damp and chilly—without creating a light so bright it feels like you’re staring into the sun? It’s a big deal, especially if you have a baby in the house. Nobody wants a blinding glare during bath time.
The Trick to “Eye-Protection”
Here is how we handle it. Most standard infrared lamps throw out a ton of visible light and UV rays. That’s where that harsh, clinical brightness comes from. We decided to shift things. By tweaking the filament and the quartz glass, we push the energy away from that blinding blue light and move it toward longer waves. The result? You get all the cozy, radiant heat you need, but without the “stadium lighting” effect.
What’s Under the Hood
We use high-purity quartz glass to hold the tungsten filament. Why? Because bathrooms are brutal. You’ve got steam, humidity, and rapid temperature swings. This glass can take the hit without cracking. We also add a special coating to the tube. Think of it as a pair of sunglasses for the heater. It blocks the wavelengths that hurt your eyes but lets the warmth slide right through. Plus, we’ve tuned the circuitry to keep the temperature steady. No sudden power spikes, which means no annoying flashes of light when you flip the switch.
The Honest Trade-off
Now, there is a catch. When you filter out the visible light to protect your eyes, you lose a tiny bit of heat efficiency. It’s just physics. Because of that, you’ll want to go with a slightly higher wattage. If you go too low on the power, the light will look soft and nice, but you’ll be standing there shivering while you wait for the room to actually get warm. One last thing—since this is a bathroom, make sure your housing is rated IPX4 or higher. You don’t want moisture getting into the terminals and causing a short. Safety first.
