Getting the Heat Right in Your Bathroom
When you’re picking out an infrared lamp, it’s tempting to just grab the one with the biggest number on the box. But here’s the thing: more power isn’t always better. It’s really about how much space you’re trying to warm up. Our lamps don’t waste time heating up all the air in the room. They beam heat directly onto you. It’s that instant, cozy feeling the second you step out of the shower.
Finding the Sweet Spot
If you’ve got a tiny bathroom—think under 4m²—you don’t need a powerhouse. Something in the 400W to 600W range usually does the trick. If you go too high in a small space, the room gets stifling fast and the thermostat just keeps clicking on and off. For those bigger bathrooms (around 6m² to 10m²), you’ll want to look at 800W to 1200W units. Get it wrong and you’re either paying for electricity you don’t need or shivering because the lamp can’t keep up. It helps to think about how drafty the room is before you buy.
The Boring (But Important) Tech Stuff
Since we’re talking about bathrooms, water is the enemy. That’s why we use sealed quartz glass and connectors that don’t mind a bit of moisture. One quick tip: check your wiring. A 1200W lamp pulls a decent amount of power. If it’s on the same circuit as your water heater, you might find yourself staring at a tripped breaker. Not a great way to start your morning.
Avoiding the “Hot Spot”
High-wattage lamps are intense. They create a very tight, hot beam of heat. It’s great for warming up quickly, but it can feel a bit like a heat lamp at a buffet—too hot in one spot and chilly everywhere else. If you have a larger room, don’t just buy one massive unit. Try two smaller lamps spaced apart instead. It spreads the warmth around much better, so you get a gentle glow rather than a stinging sensation on your skin.
