
Getting Your Sidel Combi SF300 or Matrix Lamps Right
If you’ve ever tried to swap out heating lamps on a Sidel machine, you know it’s not as simple as just finding something the right length. It can be a real headache. That’s why we built our lamp range to work across the board, from the old-school SBO units all the way up to the new Matrix series. They’re basically drop-in replacements. You won’t have to mess with your oven frames or spend your afternoon rewiring panels. You just put them in and get back to work.
The Deal with Power and Heat
The SF300 and Matrix machines need a very specific kind of shortwave infrared heat to get those PET preforms ready. We’ve built these lamps to handle the heavy voltage and wattage these ovens demand. High wattage is great because it keeps your cycle times fast. But here’s the thing: you’ve got to keep an eye on your cooling system. If your ventilation decides to quit, that intense heat will bake your reflectors right into ruin.Keep the air moving.
Why the Build Matters
We use high-purity quartz glass. Why? Because it stops the lamps from burning out way too early. We also added special coatings. This helps the heat actually soak into the preform wall instead of just scorching the surface. As for the fit, we use standard R7s or Sk15 connectors depending on your model. It sounds like a small detail, but a snug fit is everything. If the lamp is loose, you get an arc. And an arc is a fast track to a dead lamp and a fried holder.
Real-World Use
We wanted the installation to be a non-event. No modifications, no fuss. We mirrored the OEM footprint exactly. This means you can swap them out during a scheduled stop without having to tweak the lamp holders or mess with the focal point. Now, these lamps take a beating in 24/7 plants. We’ve done our best to make the filaments last, but at the end of the day, it comes down to your power. If your grid has nasty voltage spikes, it’ll shorten the life of the tube. No amount of fancy quartz can fix bad power.
