
Getting Your Sidel PET Blow Molders Back Up to Speed
When you’re looking for replacement lamps for a Sidel blower, you can’t just eyeball the length and hope for the best. It’s more complicated than that. We build our infrared lamps to fit the whole Sidel family—everything from those old-school SBO units to the newer Matrix series. The whole point is that they should just work. You slide them in, turn them on, and get back to production without having to mess with the oven housing or rewire your control boards. The heat side of things Every PET preform is different. If you get the heat density wrong, you end up with a bottle that’s too soft in the base or hasn’t softened enough in the walls. That’s why we match the voltage and wattage to the original specs. If you’re running a high-speed Matrix line, you need heat that hits hard and stays there. We use high-purity quartz glass because it lets the IR radiation get deep into the plastic without leaving those annoying hot spots. The “will it actually fit?” part Most installation nightmares happen at the connectors. There’s nothing worse than a lamp that almost fits, but not quite. We obsess over the end-cap tolerances so they seat perfectly in the sockets. Whether you’re dealing with R7s or those specific Sidel mounts, the footprint is exactly what you’d expect from the OEM part. Why does that matter? Because blow molders vibrate. A lot. If the lamp shifts even a little, your heating becomes uneven and your bottles come out distorted. A quick heads-up on airflow Here’s the thing about high-wattage shortwave lamps: they’re fast. Great for high output, but they put a lot of stress on your oven’s ventilation. If your cooling fans are clogged with dust or just plain dying, these lamps will basically bake your reflectors. That ruins the quartz tube way faster than it should. Whenever you swap out a full bank of lamps, do yourself a favor and check the airflow. Keeping things cool is the only way to make sure your new lamps actually last.
