
Getting Your Preforms Heated Right in Husky HyPET Systems
If you’ve spent any time on a high-speed PET line, you know the headache of the “heat soak.” It’s the classic struggle: the outside of your preform is scorching, but the core is still cold. When that happens, you get thin spots, burst bottles, and a lot of wasted plastic. We built our Sidel SBO compatible lamps to fix exactly that. The trick is getting the heat deeper. Most standard lamps just hit a wall. They bake the outer skin and stop there. We do things differently. By tweaking the tungsten filament and using a cleaner grade of quartz, we use a shortwave spectrum that actually pushes thermal energy into the center of the material. It’s not magic—it’s just better physics. The heat migrates faster, meaning your preform is warmed evenly through the wall. No rewiring, no drama. Nobody wants to spend their weekend rewiring an oven. That’s why we made these drop-in replacements. They match the footprint and electrical specs of Husky and Sidel machines exactly. You just swap them in and go. We also didn’t cheap out on the materials. We use high-grade quartz glass so the lamps don’t burn out the moment you push the wattage. Even the connectors are precision-milled. Why? Because a loose fit leads to arcing, and arcing fries your sockets. It’s a nightmare you don’t need. A quick word of caution. Here’s the thing: more penetration power means more heat density. If you crank up the wattage to shave seconds off your cycle time, your cooling blowers have to keep up. Before you go full throttle, just double-check your airflow. You need to make sure you can still strip that excess heat from the preform neck, or you’ll end up with deformation. What this actually means for your day.
