Most bathroom heaters are pretty basic—they just warm up the air. But if you’ve ever dealt with that stubborn black mold in the grout, you know that warm air isn’t enough. We did things differently. We built our infrared lamps to do two things at once: get you warm the second you step out of the shower and actually stop mold from moving in.
How it actually works
Mold loves two things: dampness and cold corners. Standard heaters usually miss those spots, leaving moisture trapped in your tiles. Our lamps use short-wave radiation. Instead of just heating the air, this light penetrates the moisture and vibrates the water molecules themselves. It basically bakes the dampness right out of your porous grout and tiles. Think of it as a hidden dehumidifier that stops mold spores from ever getting a grip on your walls.
Built for the splash zone
Let’s be real: bathrooms are brutal on electronics. You’ve got steam, splashes, and the occasional direct hit from the showerhead. That’s why we went with an IPX5 rating. It’s a fancy way of saying the guts of the machine stay bone-dry, even if you’re spraying water nearby. We also used high-grade quartz glass for the bulbs. Why? Because if a cold drop of water hits a red-hot bulb, cheap glass cracks. Ours doesn’t.
A few things to keep in mind
If you’re installing these, just keep an eye on your power. These lamps pack a punch, and that means they pull a fair amount of juice from your breaker. If you’re putting a few of them in one small room, make sure your wiring can handle the load so you don’t deal with any voltage drops. And here is the honest truth: you’ll feel a “hot spot.” Since infrared heat is directional, the area right under the lamp gets hot fast. You might notice a big difference in temperature between where you’re standing and the rest of the room. It’s a trade-off, but it’s the only way to get the surfaces hot enough to actually kill the mold and dry out the walls.
